The roar of a continent- The Vuvuzela

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ 11th June 2010 - It is the start of the South African World Cup opening ceremony. The atmosphere is buzzzzzzzzing - not only with the soccer-lovers’ energy but electric with the sound of the soon-to-be-controversial African horn - THE VUVUZELA.

As the first global event of its magnitude to be hosted in Africa, the world expected a refreshing spice to the well-loved and religiously worshiped World Cup.

When you envision Africa, you imagine lions, elephants, perhaps a dramatic scene from the gladiator - not R-Kelly muffled under the modern horn - the vuvuzela.

Just when you thought you knew Africa from countless National Geographic episodes - “WRONG!”

So why is the world buzzzzzzzzzzzzing with criticism of the ceremonial instrument that has ignited passion in events since 800 BC?
